It stinks of petrol, it's drinking the stuff, there's black soot all over the back end. Is there anything obvious I can check? 4x4 red top greens t34 etc.

I do have a new one of those around somewhere, but they ain't positioned easy to get to are they?

 

also air charge, map and air leaks. Got this on mine aswell at the mo but cant cure it

 

Not the easiest thing to get to, no.
Some do it from underside on ramps etc, I do it from the top using a deep socket, think it's 19mm ?, then a short extension on a 1/2" rachet, more doen by feel than anything else, but only takes a few mins when stuck in, but massive difference if it is that.

Also check your fuelpressureregulator, could be the membrane has ruptured.
Check by pulling off small hose that goes to inletplenum, no fuel must come out of regulator.
