Post can i make s2 turbo an xr3 again

I have an xr3i which was once turbo converted. It has been sitting in my garage for the past 6 or so years, ever since i blew the turbo unit on the way to fitp. As i have no money to repair, i was wondering if anyone could advise if it is possible to swap the turbo charged engine [zvh] for an xr mfi engine without changing the looms. Would it run??? I just want to drive my car. its been missed.

would it not work if you just took the turbo off and changed the exhaust?

If it's just the turbo which has gone it's gonna be far easier and probably just as cheap to replace it than convert back. As said you could just remove the turbo and replace the exhaust with a xr3i item. A friend did this and it ran fine

id say it would be just as cheap to replace the turbo pal, unless the engine is naffed etc.....

didnt realise i could just lose the turbo will try it i think. Just need to get a set of head bolts and gasket as i swapped the head with a mate. I only asked as money is tight [bloody kids are expensive] and my missus doesnt really want it on the road, so i have to be as economical as possible to keep her sweet lol. I have acess to a writ off xr i was just gonna swap the engine but after reading what people have suggested i will try just the exhaust instead. This is my first post and already i am loving thess forums thankyou everyone who has made a suggestion. will let you kn ow how it goes.
