Default Oil temp

I need to get my oil temp up as it never seems to get warm enough.

Without driving like a tit all the time, how can i do it ?

Its a 4x4 cossie, big wing sump ( temp sender is in sump ), low comp, T4, standard cams etc

What temp are you seeing first ?, the oil gets hotter as soon as it has been sucked up by the pump as it starts absorbing surrounding heat, the reason I always fit the temp senders at the oil pressure points, so long as you have around 70-80 C it is fine, but one way to get higher is to use a higher temp stat, so there is less cooling effect from the water temp in the oil/water cooler(modine).

i dont see much above 60c on normal driving. maybe get near to 70c if in traffic for a while.

Water temp goes up to 90 c then down to 80c after the fans have stopped.

The water pump pumps across the metal pipe toward the heatermatrix but as there isnt one it goes straight round to the modine

I have noticed that the oil temp isnt getting as high now that ive changed the oil im using. gone from 10-50 pro S to 10-60 castrol, I only changed due to the pro S making my tappets noiser but now with the Castrol its even worse

Does indeedy sound a little cooler than I would have expected, and had on previous cars, but not got me temp connected yet on the cos, I know I used to see a steady 90C on the 4i, with 130C when giving it a bit, your temp is plenty enough to protect well though, but if still unsure I would contact oilman, to see about ideal temps.
I also found as you did with the castrol, both with the older rs and the newer stuff, so stopped using it.
