It does sound like fuel starvation. The fact you have spark and fuel shows CPS to be working, the sensors are generally reliable anyway but the wiring not so now age has set it, especially prone is the CPS to car loom connector where in the connector loses it's grip on the pins but don't think this is your problem. The fuel filter is worth checking as matter of course anyway and should be changed periodically but many seem to leave it as 'Out of sight out of mind' or don't know it's a changable item.

Imprezas are not rare, and 0-60 in 6 seconds I woulden't say is slow, as standard it was exceptionally good in it's day and is still so today.

Try another coil.

As for Impreza being rare, we sat outside our local tonight and we see 3, i have lived in this town for 11 years and only seen 3 3door cossies, mine and a moonstone blue one that had never seen polish in its life

Try putting a test meter on the fuel pump and see if you still have 12 volts when it dies, i think it a case of finding what its not rather than what it is, maybe fuel pump relay.

It will be intersting to know what the problem is.

Why would smashing 2 diffs make me feel better, but it would be very interesting how you done it unless your running 600 bhp.

And why you want to scrap a cosworth becuse it has a small problem like you have, take it to someone who knows what their doing and they would fix it in half a hour.

How did you smash 2 diffs if it only runs for 2 minutes.

So your saying 9 out of 10 of us are fucking stupid. the post dont look stupid to me, the guy wants to scrap his car becuse of a small problem and then says he has smashed two diffs and i should feel better for it, smash ten fuckers it makes on difference to me, and if the car only runs for a couple of minutes then how the fuck did he do it.

If someone comes on here whos opinion matters i will review my thread.

Have a nice day

all he meant by a 'newbie post' was that as you are new, you wont be used to the amount of people that get that pissed off with their cossys breaking that they bust them for parts, unfortunately its a regular occurence on here, and one that if you stick around you will get used to.

step back, calm down, move on.

thanks

Sorry jaiscossie for taking your post the wrong way

I been on the RSOC website for 20 years and had my 3 door since 1987 but only just joined Passion Ford , i am surprised by the number of people wanting to break a cossie for parts, there not difficult to work on and whatever problem you have there is always one of us who have had the same trouble and know how to fix it .

They are different people mate, one has a problem with his car cutting out.... the other as broken two diffs...... So as for how can you fuck a diff if the car only runs for two minutes.... i doubt you can (easily) and neither of the people above have.

1. Go out and bum some random minger to relieve the anger!

2. Find out if it's ignition cutting out or whether it just doesn't get enough fuel. If it's fuel starvation it will get worse the more you depress the go-pedal! Could be fuel filter or a pump related problem then. Ignition problems mostly occure at low rpms and high boost.

I'm not sure about the Cossie WeberMarelli stuff but on normal Fords of that age (EECIV) the MAP sensors occasionally packed up with similar symptoms. If you unplugged it, the ECU would run the engine from the other sensors (TPS, CPS). Not sure if this works on a Cossie and how prone to fail the MAP sensors are. The symptoms would be similar though

PS: I've only spent about 3 weeks in the UK in all my life but I've already seen more Scoobies there than I have in the other 25 years in Germany...

The fact that you have only spent 3 weeks in england and you know there are plentiful mingers to go and have bum fun with is just plain impressive..... why is your english so good?

I seem to remember a problem like this in another thread..... ages ago.... think it was MAP or VR sensor???? have a look around there, to check if its fuel starvation you could shove a cheap fuel pressure gauge in the supply line and see what it does as the engine cuts out... and is it cock on 2 mins each and every time or does it vary?

If the MAP sensor has no input they run very rich as there no vaccum signal, common cracking of the hose is most common, pretty sure if it was unplugged they would do the same thing and just run rich.
