What camshaft?
I'm in the process of rebuilding my 1.6 cvh turbo. The company checking it over told me the head is in excellent condition, valves and springs are new enough and a good porting job has been done. I was told when I bought it that it had a Kent cam in it, however when I took out the camshaft, I was greeted with a Ford badge on it. I'm hoping to make about 190/200 bhp so I want to fit a performance cam. I know all the names but I'm thinking Kent. The car made 176bhp at torque of the devil in March 2008 so I no its not too bad but what spec cam?
Also, when fitting an uprated cam, do I need to upgrade anything in the head?

fit a newman cam with solid lifters if you want an uprated item, I have no experiance of these but its deffo the cam of choice these days
I just fitted a standard replacement in mine during the winter

For now leave your cam, and fit a Stage 2 T3 and a front mount intercooler, this is all you need to make a genuine 200bhp @ fly.
Unless you already have those of course, and it is your cam being worn thats holding you back?

what Karlos said realy, best spending your money on a proper cooler and turbo.

im sure ive read somewhere that due to the weight of the valve gear prematurely waring out cams/lifters,you would treat them as a service item and change them every two years, does anyone do the same?,im sure the big power boys must?........
alot of the cams out there wear quick because of different materials being used for the cam and followers. which will obviously cause the cam lobes or followers to wear faster than the other. i chose newman because i was told they use the same material for their cams and followers.
