hey all ive just brought an mfi turbo lump from a 88spec escort its just the block with head, when i got it i got told bottom ends gone(me thinking rings) not actually picked it up yet but when i do im going to change the rings, put in arp bottom end bolts, replace all gaskets and reseat all the valves, polish all the ports etc,
was looking for some advice on tell tale signs on bad engine ware,other things that could be broke, whether i need to rehone the cylinders for the new rings(if not scored), and things to buy/replace before putting it back together

You'll need to have the bores and the crank meassured for wear, and so long as there are no cracks in the block your all good! 
Buy, full gasket sets, shells, rings (pistons if needed), water and oil pumps, ARP rod bolts, stock head bolts and gasket, and maybe play the cam lottery!
