best tyres to run on my 2wd as the ones i have dont grip at all i want some think that will be ok in all weathers was going to fit r888 but have been advised they are like skates in the rain

 

R888 is a good tyre in the rain and grips very well in the dry but maybe not so good on standing water - extreme rain.

Width is the big thing aswell, you can fit a 235 rear tyre onto a Saph or 3dr without to many dramas.

problem is my comp's have a et40 car is very very low but will be putting it back to std or -20mm need some think that will perform well in the rain as well as dry just need to get some grip as the wife dont like it much when its going side ways in 3rd as it comes on boost

 

As said width is important, in the dry, it is counter productive in the wet where narrower is better.
HANKOOK VENTUS EVO V12 K110, best tyre imo, use these myself, even on gf's astra, grip is astounding wet or dry, feel a little "squishy" at fiorst as have soft sidewall but don't roll more than others but sure do outgrip them.
At sepang they did the circuit within 1.8 seconds of a dedicated dry road tyre in the dry then later a wet road tyre was comapred in the wet, 1.7 seconds slower, they wore out a few sets of dry road and wet tyres, and were still able to drive home on the(still) legal tyres after 13 laps at sepang, on ventus v12.
I've had F1, rainsport, ps2, t1s, t1r, to name a few over 27 years, just a totally different league, so good were they for the first time in my life I ordered 4 tyres so I had 2 spares in case I had trouble finding some when needed, 205/50X15 X 2 Ł107 delivered from blackcircles, be cheap at twice the price for the performance.

r888s are very good but not as good as the dumlop road legal slicks there a realy good tyre but wear out fast gave mine good grip in first and second when warm and i have about 500lb ft but the r888s spin up much more. And to be honest not that i realy use mine much in the wet id still say they were both better than normal tyres in the wet too!

 

have been told i can't fit anythink wider than 215 to the rear with the offset i have is this true have been trying to find the Hankook V12 Evo's but cant seem to find any of the size's mentioned above

They are well worth searching for, my local(hankook) dealer JS Tyres couldn't get me the V12's in the size I wanted(std cossie) neither could a few other normal dealers, found shed loads when I went online, got mine from blackcircles.

No they're not, they last a HUGE amount longer, and outgrip the 888 in a different league in the wet, read and research the sepang test, as a overall tyre it depends what you want, for the babies that may not use a 2wd in the wet or snow/ice etc as they're on 888, they wouldn't have anywhere near as much of a problem in the conditions with V12's, also incredibly quiet.

lol babies or maybe the point that mine will still turn its self round in 5th at 70 in the wet makes me think this is a bit much maybe ill use the other car!. Even when i had 350 id say no tyre would have made it very good in the wet so why bother as road legal slicks are so much better in the dry but thats just me And the r888s arnt that bad in the wet but as said if u have a modded rwd cosworth then it will always be shit in the wet!
