My mate sold him that when it was a standard black 1.6 car, he's had it painted a few different colours over the years and had more than a few different sets of wheels. the amount of money he has spent must be shocking

There's no difference in spending thousands doing something like this chap has done, or spending thousands doing something like Rod, or Martin, or Porkie did with the 3dr. It's all about spending thousands doing something that makes you happy - beit modifying a car to look good, or sound good, or be "bling" or modifying a car to go very fast, handle well, or whatever.
