Don't laugh but I'm thinking that I might buy myself a little 01-05 plate MG ZR 1.4 to use as a daily driver. Should give a combined MPG of 41 which seems reasonable considering the RS does about 25 MPG on a good day using BP ultimate
Parkers value them at between £1000 and £3000 depending on year and providing it has average mileage.
I'm basically looking for peoples opinions, I think that for between £1500 and £2500 I'll find a half decent one with around 60-70k on the clock that has hopefully had the head gasket changed already.
Are they any good?
Big-Dan.

I think there are better smokers out there for that sort of cash mate. Theres a mint 306HDi D-Turbo for sale near me that would be bought for 1600 I reckon.

Something like that would be what I'd stick my cash into.

For DD i would rather just buy the 1.8 version.
Slightly less mpg however much more performance for hills and daily driving.
Buying small capacity cars thinking you save money on fuel = fail as you have to rag them when you meet hills.
TBH i would spend 3k on a passat PD130 (like i did) as i hardly ever need to change out of gear. 130hp 225lb/ft, £300 remap sees 170hp 300lb/ft.

I see.. If I'm honest I do quite like the styling of the ZR's, appearance wise I'd pick one over the above Pug or a Passat, living fairly local to Longbridge appears to have warped my perception
Cheapish Tax, Insurance, and good fuel return is what I had in mind when I started to look at them, other alternatives do look a little more promising now though.
After having a quick look about on the net I reckon I might look into getting a 00/01 Fiesta 1.6 Zetec S, they seem to be pretty cheap to run, maintain and insure unless anybody can advise otherwise.
Big-Dan.
