Default LS Engines - talk to me.

Just after a bit of education. Hearing lots of people talk about LS1 and LS other number engines, believe they are fitted to Lexus'?

Is there a good resource to read up and learn about these engines online? Sure I heard Chip say he was putting one in something, and maybe Martin @ reyland too?

are you getting confused between the is engines ( lexus ) and the ls engine ( chevorlet ) ??

the ls engine came in 7 derivitives ls 1-7 , all different depending on cubic capicty , power output ect

there all alloy blocked motors , based on a smallblock chevvy lump ,

hugely tuneable ,compact and lightweight , absoultely stonking engines

had a look into one for my rwd mk3 esc project , but getting one seemed difficult to find at the right price ,

all up irrc they weigh about the same as a complete yb engine ,

what u thinking of putting it in ,

ohh and they are also found in vaux monaros

LS series is used in all sorts, corvette's, viper's, vxr8, holdens, caddilac etc. Anything to do with GM will probably use it in the higher end vehicles. There really good motors and are finding there way into muscle cars quite frequent, not quite bumping the small/big blocks off there pedestal(sp) but they are very much s the sought after motor nowadays.
Think you right about Martin, wasn't he doing a viva or chevette?

yeah as above I was getting confused with the 4ltr is engine, the Ls certainly looks handy! Not thinking of putting it in anything sadly, got enough on the go. But like to learn a bit!

Vipers have 8.0 and later 8.3 litre v10s. The LS9 in the Corvette ZR1 has 630hp and 600 lb/ft tourque from 6.2 litres and is available for $21,000 direct from GM.
