Default DIY Focus RS500

If you didn't get chance to put your deposit down for the RS500 in time, you can do it yourself with Fords backing!!! £2200 upgrade apparently

It's just the Mountune Performance Pack. £2.2k for all of it but warranty intact. Thought it was actually a performance and styling pack when I first opened this thread.

Wonder how much it would cost to get that wrapping done on a standard RS Focus?

So the mountune kit offered uses the EXACT same parts on the focus RS500 over the normal RS?

mountune just tunes the engine, it ain't an rs500 at the end of the day.

if you tune a ST to RS speck, it doesn't make it an RS does it.

Problem being Rich the ST engines has too many fundamental difference to ever make it an RS. For one the block and secondily the turbo.

The 'standard' RS and the '500' use the same engine and turbo etc however the 500 has the mountune upgrades from the factory...

ok, but it wont be a real rs500 there will be no plaque with the build number inside it

But no one's saying a DIY one would be a 'real' RS500 though. The OP was pointing out that you could have the same engine mods without having to buy an RS500... or that's how I read it at least.

I agree ^^^^^^

Surely there's gonna be loads of people who can't get on the initial 500 run that would like the same experience if it's available.
After all, isn't that what we all do anyway......tune and modify.

As someone else previously said, a lot of the 500 will be stored with delivery mileage and hoped to gain worth over the years.....like the prick who's advertised one on Whee-bay for £45k

You'd need different injectors or pump to break the 340-350 barrier.

I'm just going down the Mountune route I think. Prefer to keep the balance of my warranty i.e. circ 2No years. Their products are generally well tested and proven.

Waiting to read your report with baited breath.

Only problem with mine is I dont use it enough anyway and am generally happy with its performance

What difference would you see out of buying this conversion over say one from Jamport or other tuners that specialise in this vehicle/engine??

Basically are they just offering something everyone else is but they'll let you keep your warranty

The pump issue doesnt seem to have been picked up by the aftermarket boys for some reason
