rs turbo cutting out at traffic lights

Default rs turbo cutting out at traffic lights

anybody know why this is? it runs smoothly then all of a sudden when i stop the revs will die down and it will cut out?

ditto on airleak. if its on mfi get the engine running and spray some carb cleaner/ wd40 round all the hose ends one by one, and listen for an engine note change. also, it might sound stupid but check the dipstick is tight. on my old engine it would cut out at traffic lights sometimes and i couldn't work it out. the dipstick would pop out if i gave it some stick

i had this issue changed the dizzy and rotary arm everything was fine

yeh as above if its a mfi loose the dumpvalve, if not check for air leaks, also if you are running a dv check the t pieces aint cracked/broke

i havent got a dump valve not going to make that mistake again. iv only had it 4 days i bought it off 'mungus' off here its a mint car apart from this. ill check the hoses tommorow

also check the simple things like loose wires/conections

it was the oil dipstick which had worked loose not a lot though but back running smooth now cheers!

dumpvalves never caused problems on any of the rs turbo's ive had nor on my current one you just have to make sure you get the correct one for mfi's

it used to happen to me when the car warmed up and the cold start valve cut out caus my throttle cable bracket was f*cked and kept letting butterfly shut completely

I went through loads of different ones before realising they don't have any benefit at all and getting rid of it completely. Even if you find one that works the car will still drive nicer without it in place.

Agree there m8 the first couple of rst's i had i always had a dump valve on but then took it off one day and realised how much better they are to drive am now on my 17th rst without a dump valve lol

Don't stop.......

Probably running lean, could well be an air leak and as said above start by binning the D/V, then check the oil cap and dip stick.
