conrod question!
Just sat there looking at me daughter thinking!
Why is there no middle player for the con rod market!!??
I mean theres one hell of a diff in price between std con rods and steel jobbies! .....i mean doesnt no one make like a middle man for the con rod market!
i mean std conrod £15 steel £175! thats one hell of a jump! surely someone must do like an intermediate for say £80!

shot peening,basically fire loads of ball bearing type things at the con rod which compacts the outer layer of the metal and strengthens it!(something along those lines,not a pro but thats how i think of it!) costs very little,get it done at a decent engineering place,my local is oselli racing.

I-section rods are usually cheaper (remember they were for hondas anyway) and would be the middle player. better than standard but not as good or dear as h section.... iirc

std ones are only cheap cos they're mass prodced in huge volumes. there's no middle player cos to make one in limited numbers is gonna cost you shed loads for the production method (forging, machining or whatever) and the material cost is only a small portion of the total cost.
