A massive thankyou for the bigyin and Carlo, they both helped out with my 320 coupe that i bought in the other thread. Thebigyin popped round to give me a hand diagnose the problems and even offered spare tools and welder for the series 1 when he was here and carlo is always at the end of an email and on several different occasions has provided me with info and tech help for BMW's......
Both guys true gentlemen, if i ever meet you carlo i need to buy you a pint, i will pop round to see you bigyin and let you see her runnnig right again..
thats why i like this site, there is genuinely people on here that have an interest in cars and sorting them properly, fair enough there is a couple of muppets that want to argue but in general its pretty good.

i seen your thread mate, and thats what make this site good.
you can get some really good advice, usually!
now, on the subject of 320d's lol, my old man has just bought one yesterday, but wont pick it up for another week or so.
now, its a 59 plate or maybe 09 320d, with about 8k miles on it.
will it have those flap things and crap breather on it, or have bmw changed the engine spec accordingly?
cheers lads

as far as i know your dads will be fine, i think they are dodgy up until the 06 plates, (new model) theres an ebay listing for the blanks that has a bit of detail on the subject, will look it out for you. Saying that i think they were talking about the flaps dont know about the breather. If its not on there, phone the service guys at one of the BMW garages, they are usually pretty helpful. Breathers a peice of piss to change, sits right ontop of the rocker cover. Swirl flaps need to take the inlet off and spin it upside down to take em out, (dont dropand screws down the cylinder head inlets now!!!!)

The 59 plate is a totally different engine mate ! we havent seen any issues with them yet but they are still in their infancy ! the timing chain is at the rear on the new engines! Your old man wont need to worry tho as its still under warranty for 2.5 years
cheers guys. it does have have over 2 years warranty left, and it is a 59 plate.
he wont pick it up for between 10 and 14 days tho, and they go on holiday in 2 weeks lol so might not get it before then (mum is having her personal plate put on, this is whats taking the time)
looks good in the pic i seen tonight. has m sport pack? 18" rims and black leather.
