Hi I have a 1984 1.6 cvh engine and need a new sump does anyone know if the later sumps (1985 on) will fit, mine has the old style gasket (more than one part) there are plenty of sumps on Ebay but all say they are for the later engines that use the rubber gasket, is ther any differance?

 

i've never found a diffrerence, best to use rubber gasket and a little sealant anyways.
what engine is this on? as rst's are different to none turbo models IIRC, but only internally.

what type of sealent should I use on the rubber gasket?

 

i just use a small amount of rtv sealant and i can't emphasise small enough as any excess will eventually fall away and find its way into the pickup pipe and clog it eventually.

 

Thanks again xr2wishy, just read up on that RTV sealant and they say you only have about 5 mins before it goes off, as I will proberbly be pratting around for ages thought I might use Red Hermetite which I used on the core plugs to good affect or am barking up the wrong tree yet again!!
