Default smoking issues!!!!!!

hi there, i need some help with my rs turbo, wen i start it up from cold i have really bad smoke but after few minutes it clears. what could this be??

Depends on colour...
Blue is Oil so probably valve stem seals.
Black is fuel so probably overfuelling on cold start.
White is water which is either head gasket or just condensation in the exhaust.

blue could also be piston rings/ bore wear or turbo seals.

does it smoke if you drive it hard or after its been drivin hard on idle?

I had the same prob with mine smoked quite badly form cold and as soon as it warmed up it completley stopped turned out to be my turbo some thing to do with the oil seals

Sounds like you have worn valve stem seals. This isnt a hard job to do as it can be done with the head on if you use a special tool. If they do need changing then go for the top hat style seals. When changing them use a megnet to remove the collets and use some grase to put them back in. This will help them stick to the valve.

i would say the oil rings or stem sills, we used 2.0 sierra sills on my m8 erst and they worked perfectly, check compression aswell, aslo you may be able to get the plugs out and put a light in to see if the bores are scored

well its blue smoke and it disapears wen warm, butg took the head off lst nite and its stem seals as there is oil sitting on 2 of the valves. fnks for your help cheers.
