Default Power Steering???

Hey,

Just had an hour in the bay of me 4x4 saph and noticed that there was no power steering pump!! Do many people do away with this? Is there much power to save by doing so?

Had the car since Jan and only just noticed!!

Cheers, Chris

What year is your car ? Later models have them under the alternator on a ribbed belt with spring tensioner

G reg....The thing that made me look for it was the Crank pulley still has the outer groove for where the pump is side mounted; but i suppose the pulley could have been changed. It certainly hasn't felt as if there's no power steering. Think i'll have a look again tomoz!

Cheers, Chris

It must be there somewhere mate , cos they are really hard to turn without power . the later pulleys do have an outer groove for the aircon pump (if fitted) thats why the alternator is moved to the other side . What about the power steering fluid reservoir on the nearside inner wing ,is that there?
