Default cossie brakes onto rst?

Just wondered if anyone knows if the 4x4 cossie front discs and calipers are a straight fit onto an s2 rst?

Was also wondering if anyone has fitted the 4-pot 2wd front calipers and discs to an rst as I dont think I have seen this done? (ie would the caliper foul against the wheel)

I was planning to use either of these calipers and then a big disc conversion but again not sure if it can be done.
I wanted 300mm discs and run 7.5x17 polished 7 spoke wheels, any info much appreciated.

Cheers

Paul

You need brackets to fit them

If you use 4wd Calipers and 2wd Discs, then its pretty much a straight fit (you may need to mod the calipers slightly, but thats all)

No other parts needed

Neil.

I've got 2WD Cossie calipers and discs on my ERST, bought them off Ryan, he had them modded as well so they fitted straight on

The 2WD discs and 4x4 calipers will fit straight on, the only mod you may need is a 1mm washer to space the caliper on the disc properly, you don't need any brackets.

Heres another link for ya

Be aware that the Ford RS 7 spokes won't allow the fitment of big discs without spacers...

Cheers for all the info.

Mike R: do you know what size spacers I would need if I wanted 4x4 calipers on mounted on brackets to take 300mm discs? is this just to clear the calipers?
(I was thinking of the Hi-spec 4x4 big disc conversion)

Cheers

I got away with 5mm spacers when I did mine, the wheel fouled the caliper...

Forgot to ask, why do I need to use 2wd discs with 4x4 calipers?
Sorry for all the questions people!

Cheers

Paul,
In answer to your first question, you would have to fit the brake kit and then measure the distance needed to clear the calipers. However, spacers are nasty (unless using the proper Eibach type available from Chris @ Carnoisseur AKA Cossymad), as the wheels don't sit on the hub locating ring and can vibrate like a bastard.

In answer to your second question, 2wd discs and 4x4 discs have a different offset - i.e. when fitted to the hub, the disc sits in a different place (like you get different offset wheels).

Hope this helps....

Paul,

a) What happened to the "other" calipers you were going to use. Ive seen those ones used on a Saff but not a RST.
and
b) Not saying this is the case above. But a lot of people "modify" the caliper by grinding part of the mounting bracket away on the caliper itself. Just something to be aware of.

By FAR the 4x4 calipers and 2wd (283mm discs) is the easiest conversion. Its all just bolt on stuff. Ive also heard that with the 4pots the pedal travel can get longer if you stay with the standard Master cylinder. Sure thats an easy enough fix though.

Oh and Happy New Year mate.

To anybody else.

Did Hi Spec ever sort out those issues with the bell to disc retaining bolts???

Happy new year to you to rich!

I took the brembo 4-pots I have to Hi-spec on Sat and explained to them what I wanted but they werent any help. Getting these calipers to fit big discs and have brackets made up and then to be sure there gonna fit behind my wheels without spacers is proving to be impossible.

I could use Karls old 4x4 calipers but I really wanted to go bigger than standard cossie disk size.

Cheers
