My birds old man is a mason and TBH it seems its not really about anything these days other than just them enjoying each others company and helping each other out (often in business, and occasionally in ways that are anti-competitive etc), its just an old boys club basically.
But if you read the internet, it will tell you that they run the US etc and that masonic symbols are hidden in the designs of washington and the whole american political system is on its knees in front of them

I'm not and never have been a mason but don't believe they have even a fraction of the influence some people claim and doubt if they ever really did.

To me, they seem to be a bit of a social club with some charitable works thrown in, kind of like Rotary or Round Table.

Of course, I could be wrong so, if you don't hear from me for a couple of days please phone the fire brigade and tell them the masons have me! (Don't suppose there will be much point phoning the cops!)

Back in the day of my 1st MK1 Capri V8 (when 18) I used to collect my 7 day wonders up to do a worthwhile trip to the station
I was late again one day, due to yet another tug on the way in to work and my boss made a phone call and I stopped getting pulled on my commuter journey He was quite high up though.
Later in life when I got the chance I joined up and found it wasn't for me
They did remove some parts of my hand when I left, so I can't show anyone the handshake

Cant remember now but when you shake hands you either extend one finger or touch their knuckle, which one your use or touch shows rank or something like that.

Thats what I was told anyway....

The handshake is so much so that when you shake hands 1 mason can recognise another by it, us mere mortals wouldnt have a clue.
I think its alot more lapse now than it was regarding getting in, and their influence isnt what it once was, in some trades if you was In then your on a good promotion trail.
They were, and I still think are the 2nd biggest giver to charities in this country behind The National Lottery, cant be that bad then can they.

I’m not a mason myself but I have been asked I know at least four masons that I know of and from what I can make out the masons are a group of men who believe in respect to their fellow man and try to be morally outstanding they do ALOT for charity and each other you cannot stop being a mason as such (you can stop paying subs going to lodge ect) but you can be kicked out sleeping with another masons wife will do it

The masons also provide security for your family in case of your death whether if be financial or moral support

As for the influence at a time even 10-15 years ago there were certain things they could do for you schooling for your kids and silly but useful things but not overturning speeding tickets ECT

I understand being a builder/business owner you can do very well from the masons as I have worked for a few via my boss who is a mason

There’s not a lot of young guys in any of our local lodges for a few reason really lack of interest the not so warm welcome from the old boys

Maybe one day I’ll be invited again and I’ll accept but it’s unlikely as I have a criminal record but it’s my understanding that if enough guys back you and you show that you’re the type of person they want when they interview you they will make acceptations

The masons are a very unique.. Its all based on the belief that Jesus had a son and is still amongst us in 1 form or other..

I work for a masonic club and some of what you hear has to be taken with a pinch of salt but to the outsider its just a group of old boys dressing up in fancy robs and singing a few hymms..But to those that are masons its a lot deeper than that
