Default 1.8 or 2 litre?? help

hi im swapping my 1.6 zetec from my escort to either a 1.8 OR 2 litre

Ive got the chance to buy an ''escort ready'' 2 litre ie with the sump, pickup pipe and water pump off escort OR a 1.8 zetec.

Not sure which to go for, will the 1.8 be easier to install? despite all the right changes made to mondeo engine im wondering if it will be any more difficult?

Im keeping my flywheel, clutch and gear box off the 1.6

Any opinions much appreciated

cheers

Just go 2.0 mate your going to expend all the effort of an engine swap 2.0 will be no more hassle than a 1.8 would especially since you can get one already set up to drop into your car.

Not sure on that one mate but you'd have to run presumably on 1.6 injectors and fuel system and I don't know whether the demand from the 2.0 will be too much so can't help you there definitely don't want to be running it lean and rough though.

yeah i dont, are you saying that I couldnt run the 2 litre injectors on the ecu? Presumably id need a 1.8 or 2litre ecu soon after fitting and running engine?

sorry, questions may seem abit stupid but not done a full engine swap before, (well not a efi engine)
cheers

I don't think so mate again just from my experience and implementing some common sense, you'd need to use the 1.6 injectors with the 1.6 ECU.

if you get a com diagnostic check it should flag up where the error is, I bet it is the maf/air intake sensor or something similar

Rubbish. You may have perhaps disturbed the MAF whilst you fitting it but you don't need nothing reprogrammed. Disconnecting the battery will not make any difference to the EML light; disconnecting it for an hour though will clear the KAM and perhaps give the car time to adjust to the induction kit but apart from that you need a diagnostic to tell us the code mate.

Hi thanks for the advise. in the end i got rid of the induction kit and the car runs faster like it used to. i was just was wondering what other things could i do to my 1.8 zetec focus to make it go faster. i heard of something called a re-map of the engine.
