marky asked for some start to finish project threads and thought id stick this one up as its the only one ive got a decent amount of photos of.
Started life as a Japanese police Impreza WRX, #5806 of 6000, when i got it there was a few of the police parts missing etc, but was no problem as i had plans from the start.

the plan;

the limited edition WR1, 500made in real life, this will be the only one in 1:18 (that im aware of..)
Model motorvations supplied the Prodrive PFF7 wheels,

and kindly printed me the waterslide decals which id designed in photoshop, excellent quality
spent about 20-30mins taking it apart and taping the screws together so none were lost etc lol

nitromors'd it to bare metal, and then used milliput to fill the holes from the police lights in the roof and front bumper, and the other holes in the bonnet and A pillars, primed with halfords' best.

colour wise, rather than faffing on getting it custom mixed etc, i just opted for the closest off the shelf match, which was Ford Tonic blue..

not 100% but for a model that'll probably never come close to a real WR1 it'll do me spot on
today i masked up the inner wheel arches and parts of the floor

painted

then i put on a decal MM did me, says 'WR1 #1 of 1, hand built by pete brown', thought it was a nice touch as it had a similar thing on with the model number before it was painted
the suspension and antiroll bars etc were painted here and there too to jazz them up a bit, black is boring

probably get the colour on the shell tommorow, been putting it off long enough, will update as & when
cheers

slight update, the car got painted, decals were applied and laquered

masked everything up and painted the window seals and roof trim today

need to mask up the front bumper now, gonna be a pain to do but needs doing!

both grills are black plastic on the car, but on the model theyre moulded into one piece
if theres a bit that goes wrong, it'll be this bit lol

looking good petey .
love the chassis , will have to start doing the underneath on mine as it really does finish the model off well.
love the idea of putting your name on the underneath too

ive seen a few of these cars in past few years
needs uk spec headlamps (with reflector) and prodrive grills and it would be perfect
well done! Andy www.scoobyteknixuk.com

tell you what petey ,
that is way beyond perfect
it looks better than a pure untouched autoart , you have made a big improvement on the standard autoart model.
the underneath is now better detailed than the original and the finish topside is perfect , flawless mate .
cant wait to see what you do next mate.
