Default New Topspeed record at Vmax

The Porsche below has set a new Vmax Topspeed record at Brunters of 222mph roof up & 210mph roof down. Its punching 1120bhp.

A year ago I had thoughts of setting a new Vmax record as it stood at 211mph this has destroyed that little plan , but i do plan to mix it with this baby at the next one & be happy to get soundly beaten

This Porsche is on another planet from what a 20year old Ford can achieve that Speed is jaw dropping

My PB is 201.3mph set when the record was 201.8. Neither Mark or myself will attempt records anymore have Greg Rose to do that. Yes I will do a Topspeed run & hopefully push my PB past Marks 206.1 but pushing on to 215 will be fore someone whos a bit more special at driving than an OAP .

Any spec details of the Porsche? Keen to see how much work and how much money it would take to put a supercar into that sort of power/performance bracket...

Cheers,

Jesus H Christ!!!!!! That's unbelievably fast!!!

Makes me proud to own one!!!

Got mine out today actually For first time since I bought the Ferrari... I forgot how much GRUNT it had! Makes the Ferrari feel very slow!

That 996 looks so unassuming! It's not even lowered!!!! Mental!

Crazy speeds
Reading on pistonheads one of the other 9ff cars could not brake intime and got some damage at the end of the strip.

More pics from the day here

I believe it hit its limiter just before the finishing so it was perfectly geared for 222mph. Its only the second time 220 has been breached in the UK in 1.5miles both times by 9fff Porsches, it was 1mph short of the record of 223mph. The 3rd best is 215.7 by Joels Viper which is just not on that level of performance & mine may get near that but 220+ thats a whole new ballgame. 1120horses & good aero means unbeatable at this discipline cant stress just how fast those times are.

The Porka is very understated, well as understated as a Porsche can be. The speeds achieved a staggering

As above, very cool sleeper you would just never guess by looking at that car it was way over 1Kbhp!

Cool as fuck

Surprised they didnt lower it to remove front area though!

Rod, I assume that you would need about 1350-1400bhp to compete with it in terms of doing 220+?

http://9ff.de/video/tr1000/beschleunigung/index.htm

http://9ff.de/video/tr1000/papenburg/index.htm

244mph!

thats a standard widebody 997 GT2 with the spoiler and side inlets...

when 9ff do a PROPER highspeed 911...

they use narrow body and loose spoilers and inlets

They use uprated gearboxes with longer ratios. Based around standard casing etc.

kinda like a Fixit/Quaife/Bara box on a cossie kinda thing

As already discussed some crazy speeds at Brunters this weekend however something equally crazy also happened with a Porsche and top speed runs but this time in Florida yesterday.

Standing start, 1 mile to the timing beams. And the chap managed 236.7mph in a narrow body 964 with an air cooled, 2 valve, twin turbo engine. You have to hand it to the bloke, that really is staggering!
