Not many manufacturers make batteries with square terminals no more
I have just replaced the battery in my car with a Yuasa item, I've seen them on the bay for a bullseye

sorry to sound thick but im new to this my first cossie how do i check my starters nakered? and would a boost pack make a difference do you think as im going to try that 2mro
Imo cosworths always sound lazy turning over compared to normal cars and then they go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
makes it all worth while.
As said stick a booster on and see how you go from there.I did replace the battery on mine and didnt have a problem getting one but that was about 2yrs ago and from what I have read people have probs getting them now and have even changed the terminals to round ones.

well basically ive put the booster pack on it and all im getting when u turn the key is a really load sort of ticking sound but not turning over or starting do you think my battery is just completed f***kd or ???? im gutted bought the car neededing bits and pieces just want it on the road 1 thing after another lol
on the other note do the lights go dim when trying to start the car if so could be the battary but it sounds more like the starter motor is fucked
Dont assume it's the starter based on this, if your battery is sick enough it will absorb all the power from the jump pack as well, leaving nothing for the starter.
If you just buy some round post terminals that have the 2 screws that hold the main cable in, all you need to do is put a long bolt through the terminal where the cable would normally go, then nut other end screw the ford flag terminal on this way, don't need to cut anything.
This is getting away from the fact that they are easy to get, ford terminal batteries that is, www.carbatteryshop.co.uk, I always recommend and use Varta Blue, I was lucky and picked up a varta blue for Ł50 cash as it was old stock, still 5 year warranty though, a 097, biggest that will go in the tray.

you need to check voltage at the battery with a multimeter and see what it is when trying to crank. could be some thing as simple aas the starter solinoid trigger wire is fucked?? don't shell out for a new battery until your sure it's at fault. take the battery completely off the car and put the jump pack in inits place then try to start it.
cheers,
Phil

Ive just gone to start up my ERST having been laid up for many years. Though the engine was sezied as it refused to turn over. Looked under the bonnet under cranking and found the alternator was seized. Once I removed the fanbelt it spun up lovely. Still didnt start though, frikkin mfi lol!
