Default Any Mac buffs here?

Basically trying to put OSX back onto my mini mac after running XP as its an intel based system. Rather than using boot camp i did a clean install and removed all of osx and ran it purely as a windows os system

right now im trying to put os back on, but i seem to have lost the osx discs that came with it, well i have CD2 but not CD1, here is my problem

i have several version of OSX that i've borrowed from friends but all of them say "cannot install software on this computer"

i've searched the net and it appears you cannot install OSX variants from other Mac models i.e macbook or macbook pro. Find this very odd that they make so many variants of the operating system

so is there anyway from this to get osx from these cd 's i have here

at the moment i have a mac mini which is completely useless

i guess worst case i could put windows back on.

As you've discovered you need the right install discs. Have you got any mates with the same computer?

How about this (or similar)

I do have a leopard disk around, so l can send that to you.

Then when you have loaded that install your disk 2 and that will install your iLife applications

Cheers

no dave i've just bought a new laptop instead.

dave that would be great if you could, i've downloaded various version of OS to try and get it to work and absoultely nothing works, bloody specific os for mac mini.

my OS X disk 2 is Version 1.0 and has 2Z691-5860-A on it

2006 is the year

your disk 2 should be indentical but disc 1 should have a different long number.

got about 5 version of OSX here and non of them bloody work.
