Easy job, can be done on drive no problem, but a bit time consuming.
Old ones easy to cut or pull out, new poly ones easy to put in, use a block of wood to space the beam away from the body about 3", then use the long through bolt as a draw bolt to pull the new ones in, use plenty of grease in the cone shape on the beam as they need to compress a little going in, just apply some pressure and leave a min, then a little more you will see them go in slowly, massive difference they make.

ball ache, to get at to cut out , but defo the best way, cut around the top part of the bush and it will drop out with persuasion. As for putting new in , like tab says , even eaisier buy solids

you don't need any of this cutting bullshit
you don't even need to jack the car up
the biggest worry is if you snap one of the bolts that holds the plate in place
put a jack under the beam, don't jack it up
undo the 2 small bolts
undo the big bolt
lower jack
put a big socket between the bush and the bodywork
jack the beam back up again
if this fails to pop the bush out, open the door and sit in the car until the bush moves out
clean the inside of the housing with emery paper
smear grease on the new bush and inside the beam
put bush in place
use jack to jack bush into place
put the bolts back in again
15 minutes a side if you don't snap the bolts

there is the big beam bolt that goes through themiddle, but there are 2 smaller bolts that hold it to the chassis
these are open to the elements so they can rust into the captive nuts welded to the chassis and then you might be a bit fucked trying to get them out
no bother getting new ones in again as you can get a new nut and bolt in there with a bit of spanner angling
just remembered my mate jim did a write up on it here
