Hi i have s2 rs turbo i have traced the water temp sender cable which connects to the head well i think it is but when i connect it the car cuts out and wont start please could some one help thanks

It's not the water temp wire then, what colour is it, if leaving the ignition on and earthing this cable out on the engine does it make the temp gauge go to full hot reading ?

Brown white does sound like water temp sender wire, but shouldn't cause this problem.
