Going on hols with the baby so was thinking of some toys for him like a DVD player, are they allowed? I hoped I could have put a film on my phone for him but I doubt that's allowed, even using the aeroplane mode on the iPhone
so anyone know what's allowed?

What about using a laptop?
I dont think there are any restrictions tbh. When im travelling there is always someone with a computer on!
Just no electronic devices during take off and landing.

pretty much all electrical devices are allowed, as long as any transmiting parts are switched off , ie wifi / bluetooth.
phone in flight mode, is company dependant, they will tell you when your on the plane, tho again switched off for landing and take off.
the last several flights ive been on allow phones in flight mode, take a look on there website, may say there.
your pritty much allowed any thing just at take off and landing (its so they dont obstruct you getting off in case of emergancy, dont use your phone because it will kill the battery after 1 film, some flights offer in flight use of phone but unless youve got a money tree dont use it its liek Ł1 for a text and like Ł3 a min so make sure its on flight mode. best bet is buy a decent dvd player you can get a phillips one for about Ł50 and some dvds make sure ur dvd player has a battery and consider buying an extra one

Nah, I used my iPhone all through the flight to New York, and the return flight too. I just had it in "Airplane mode" incase anyone asked, and so long as it's stowed away (pocket, back etc) during take off or landing, you're fine. I was using mine for music mainly, but games, movies etc, aswell
Plenty of people use laptops on planes - if mine had a battery that lasted more than 3 seconds I'd have taken that and used that for watching movies on, as that'd be way better than in flight movies!!!
