Default series 1 turbo what is it

hi im about to buy a series 1 turbo and to be honest im clueless about them ive ask around and everyone seems to have an opinion well heres the questions i need answering.....does a series 1 have a sunroof...?whats the difference in custom....non custom...?.....the car im about to buy on friday as been stood for 5 years in a garage what underlying problems im i expected to come across...apart from the obvious rust....cheers clueless custom buyer

coustom came with electric pack,check every bit of the body for rust under back seats ,battary tray,slam panel etc remember being what it is most had a very hard life

thanks for reply...he as stated it has rust under seat and battery tray...so im assuming the sunroof is on the custom model?

i would be more concerned about the rusty bits that you cant see..get underneath and check behind the bodykit as they are an excellent water trap..the rear arches especially and everything that has been said above. other than that check it over as you would any car..and yes the sunroof is on the custom, and chances are it rusty as hell and wont open if its been stood for years..hard to get hold of aswell in good nick

Get under the car and check chassis rails and sills, don't be afraid to give them a proper poking about. Ensure it doesn't have a pair of nuts of the front suspension turrets as this would mean it's an older shell and not genuine S1, also check throughly round the ID numbers to ensure the car is genuine.

I find the best approach is to assume the seller is up to no good and try and prove the point. It's steered me away from many a polished up shitter in my time and saved me thousands of pounds
