There is a switch on the dash that seems to raise the idle when its switched up, so I don't know if this is something to do with it?

Or is the just a temp sensor for the temp gauge on the dash?

Looks odd...might be some sort of bleed valve for the idle or something but other than that haven't a clue.

I've got two dual SPA gauges:

Boost/Air Temp
Oil Pressure/Oil Temp

There is also a switch on the dash that seems to increase the idle to 2000rpm?

It can only measure pressure or temp where it is located, so I would say your boost gauge, haven't seen one there before though.

Weird, bypasses the throttle body so I'd say air temp that won't get an interrupted reading on/off throttle. Could be a standalone ISCV but not sure why it would have a sensor...

Looks like a sensor to me and as tabetha said where it is located it can only be reading temp or pressure of the intake/by-pass air.

Personally it looks a bit "over engineered" to me. I cant really see the benifit of masuring the temp or the air pressure in the idle air by-pass circuit? It would have been far easier to drill and tap the inlet manifold to get a more accurate/useful reading?

It does look like a sensor but seeing as you have a switch on the dash that raises the idle speed and then that item inline with the ISCV I would say its a solenoid valve that opens and closes controlling extra air flow................. fuck knows why though?!

I can't work out the actual reason for the switch and raising the idle??

Other than when starting from cold the switch has to be up, and the car will start and idle at 2000rpm.

Then drop to 800/900ish when warm, but if you touch the accelerator it will go back upto 2000rpm.

But once warm I put the switch in the down position, so it idles as normal.

interesting that is.
if it is a temp sensor it makes perfect sense as it won't be picking up heatsoak from the inlet, so stop the engine leaning out when static for a while due to 'high MAT' due to heat soak.
an issue that is plagueing me at the moment.

i think u need to get in touch with previous owner and find what works been done and by what tuner, seems a strange way to go around things, or i may be hiding a problem?

my rst had the cold start removed and a link between the fuel reg on the metering head and inlet as thats just the way the tuner sets he cars up, (keeps lamba inline with boost or something) could be something along those lines

i dont think the switch and sensor are related
what the full spec of the car, engine/turbo wise, maybe something in the description could point you towards what it is

does the car have anti lag/launch control fitted?

If you unplug the 'sensor' and your idle control switch in dash no longer works you know it's a flow control solenoid, if not and the idle revs still increase to 2000rpm then it may be a ACT sensor.

Doesn't have either fitted, as far as I'm aware, its running standard management with an Evolution/MSD chip.

The spec is:

T3 Turbo
Bleed valve
-31 Actuator
Beige 701 Injectors
Cossie fuel pump
Kent cam and pulley
Low comp piston - not confirmed this though

Good idea, will try that tomorrow.

What if it doesn't change either?

Just thought I would update this, as I finally figured out what they were..

The blue sensor is for the Air Temp gauge and the sensor resting on the strut brace is for the Boost Pressure gauge.
