Default Cleaning up a cylinder head - best way?

as some of you know the missus cam belt snapped on her clio.

all the new stuff has just been delivered to me old dears so 2nite ill have the pleasure of taking out the bent valves, cleaning the head up, lapping in the valves and reassembling it all...

if i take to the head with a wire brush in a drill will it fook the mating face where the head gasket goes or will it be ok???

any advice appreciated

dont wire brush the mating surfaces, but you can the combustion chambers the the valve faces (not the seats in the head or on the valve of course!).

To clean the deck.... use gasket remover and then lightly with some 400 grand wet and dry drenched in WD40

The best way is to take it to a machine shop ya tight fooker and have 2-3 thou skimmed off - I find that it prevents having to have the head off again a week later too, especially with alloy heads! It's usually about 25 quid or so, plus VAT.

Brush petrol over it, ideally submerge head in petrol but that'd be expensive pmsl
