Just a quick post to get me started

We've (luckily my wife is into motors too, so it'll be a joint effort) recently acquired a 1972 4-door Escort (1300XL body with a GT lump) and will be getting it sorted over the coming weeks/months.

So, I guess my first query to all you Oracles out there - where the hell do you buy NOS from without the eBay premiums?

Overall the car is structurally pretty sound - there is work to be done to the rear left inner of the boot recess and the rearmost part of the weelarch at the same side where I can see daylight. Then there's the lower portion of the rear panel beneath the bumper and a few fairly minor bubbles on the arches.

The interior is where we need to spend a bit of time - but we're struggling to find bits to go in. Anyone have any recommendations? What about bespoke installs - anyone gone down this route?

I'm off to have a trawl round now,

Panels can be got from www.carpanels.co.uk
they do a good range of older stuff, I love the mk1 with the roundy wings over the sqaurish lines of the mk2.

I too prefer the look of the Mk1 - any pointers on the switches/switch panels/centre consoles by any chance?

Afraid not, only to say bound to be the same on other fords of the era, can help with a brand new loom, but not much else!!
