Default 2wd saff smokeing bad ???

hi boys and girls
i own a black 2wd saff g reg 120000 miles lots i no. just had it tuned to 33obhp goes very well. now all of a sudden it smokes real bad ((only on boost)) blue smoke (turbo is fairly new). no rattles on cold start up no smoke at cold start up but the oil just goes drinks it and i mean drinks it. i have had the breather system uprated group a headgasket. also if you drive it to about 3 to 4000 rpm & let your foot off the throttle rolling in gear to idle when u pull away again it poors out more blue smoke. is it going to be a exspnsive job???does any one now how much a engine rebuild will cost???

thanks al

does it smoke under acceleration? or just on the over-run...
if it does it all the time when underload then it could possibly be the rings... but from what you have described ie smoke when putting your foot down after letting off it is more liekly to be the turbo.. take the boost pipe that goes to the compressor housing off and check for any noticeable play in the shaft.

If you want to run that power you should do a rebuild with a 200 block recon the head, new pistons.bolts, oil pump, clutch etc etc you should allow £4000. just been there and bought the t shirt any questions email me regards ED

as said above if its blue smoke on overun or it is more than likely turbo faliure, as put remove boost pipe from turbo to intercooler and check for oil in pipe, also remove air filter and check for play in bearings forward and back (thrust bearing) side to side (wet core bearings)

hi phil, it smokes as the turbo comes in hard all the way up the rev range but if you keep thrashing it, it starts to clear its weared when you drive normally it doesnt smoke or use any oil only uses oil when it pulls hard under presure. i took the pipes off no play in turbo and no oil in pipes clean as a whistle. as you say it may be the rings more exspence.

thanks al.

If u say the turbo is fairly new (assuming its not new as in 2nd hand!!) then it shouldnt be that.

In all honesty running 330bhp thru an cossie engine thats done 120k miles it aint gonna like it!!!! Your best bet is to get a full rebuild done. Mine was exactly the same, seemed ok at stage 1, went for stage 2/3 and burning shit loads of oil etc

Engine rebuild costs really do vary thou!!! Doesnt take a brain surgeon to do the work, i did 2 rebuilds on mine and ive only got a level 1 city and guilds!!!!!

Your best option is to ring a few of the main tuners on the site and get prices and opinions on what to do going by what u want!!!

you just got to judge how bad it smokes as they all do under diff conditions...
mines usally smokes quite badly the first time you floor it then it clears itself. its never totally smoke free tho never seen a cossie that is.
mines also uses oil, quite a lot in fact but it is an acceptable level for a cossie running over twice the standard boost pressure!
speak to someone in the know thats what i did. even then your mind is never totally at ease but thats cossies for you....the sleepless nights will come next worring where you are going to get you 2,3,4k for a rebuild.....lol

hi all

i took the plugs out today and found that number 1 & 3,4 were all black & sooty no 2 cylender was pefect so that must mean that the rings are gone i think your all right the standard lump cant take it. save up and time to rebuild. its worn out and still pisses all over a 60 odd grand new m3 bmw thats 3 in my town that dont try any more lovely .

i was going to sell it but what do you get thats as quick & as cheap. i loved the look on the blokes face in the bmw at the next set of lights major pissed off look then beat him again loved it.

thanks chaps al.
