Default Dump Valve not always going off ?

Since I've had the car, the Dump Valve doesnt always *ahem* dump.

It will not go off whilst the engine is warming up (to a normal temperature). Nor will it go off if I have been driving for a good 30mins (car warmed up) and the passing air has cooled the engine bay down.

Sometimes it goes off (not as loud) when the turbo fully spools up, but not always.

Anyone have any ideas ?

or are you sure your driving on boost! ....you have to have it on boost, other wise it has nothing to "dump"! and escorts have a bigger turbo that ya mates reni's and seats so it wont dump when ya at 2krpm!

Take it off anyway! you wont look back!

definately not always going off when driving on boost.
when sitting for a while it'll go off then gradually get quieter and quieter.

i have thought about taking it off ... but cant see how it wont damage the turbo if the boost is rushing back to the blades. surely 1bar would do some serious damage

14.5psi wont do it any damage! i know people running 24psi with a T3 and they dont have them! only turbo i think that needs one is a T4!

im running 16psi goin up this weekend without one! and i aint worried about turbo damage at all!

Apart from that with 1bar of boost should get a nice little chatter too!

Must be just when it picks up again after you have let go of the throttle. I tried mine without dump, couldn't notice any changes. 16 Psi. of boost.

I had this problem found out that the piston in the dump valve was sticking change it and it will be fine. I find theres always something missing when your driving without dump valves. James hates them anyways so dont take advice from him because he will just say take it off because he hates them.

i shall be ordering some boost silicone hoses soon ... so i might see if that has any effect.
the current d/v does look like its been worn slighty (will get some pics up). but what dv would be best to have ? i love the current one ... the sound it makes, even if not having it on feels better, i do like the sound it makes
