Nice one Tim. Go out on a high. It's been a good few years for us all. Many good events, with good banter etc. Hopefully we can all meet up at Central Day or whatever without the stress of these old cars! LOL.

Ollie next eh??!!

Fair play Tim, IMO yours and ollies cars were/are the top of the tree as far as RST's went!

I'm sure Karl will do a top job on your FRS

Sorry to hear that Butch but FRS is a cracking choice. Love mine to bits. Get some sensible small mods to 300 bhp and it's a very nice car

Just out of interest, i'm about to spend Ł9k ish on a car and have almost made my mind up what to get, but have realised i can prolly srtetch to an FRS Mk1

What are they like when the miles creep ut to 50k+

Do they start to feel 'old' and need the dampers/bushes changed like most cars or are they still nice and tight ?

You could probably get a nice Mondeo for 9k lol

Even if you do have to change the bushes it's not the hardest or most costly job in the world. I wouldn't let it put me off a car!!

Certainly wont be putting me off, just wondering about how much to budget etc and if it will feel like an old knacker even if i freshen up those parts. i'll have to go test drive some I think

Its in addition to the fleet not a replacement!

From the few i have been in or driven, nope. They were all still tight as a drum and had the "new car feel" as in no chunks, bangs or peculiar noises. Good motors!

BOught mine year past nov at 57k, now on 65k. Still feels great, BUT, it's around age for new clutch, poss turbo, and little things which i have sorted. Bodywise they are excellent. Reliable yes, wear and tear can be little as said.

I've changed gear caqbles which was only sloppy part but drives brilliantly. Proper cool cars and shame they get the "torque steer" name

Aint it mate. Was expecting somekind of dashboard squeek or occasional CRRRRRUNCH when selecting gears.

Honestly, the handful i have tried at 60,000+ miles have been nicer to drive than most of the brand fire new hire cars i get lumbered with.

Performance bargain and sensible, should hold value better than a newer ST, easy.

Karl has me booked in for buying one later this year - I imagine the same sort of spec you're going so I'll be interested to see what you have to say.

your never too old for any type of car its called being a car enthusiast

plenty of rich people with there classic cars

how come you don't keep both tim focus rs for the reliable everyday car and the escort rs for the weekend toy ?
