Default cam cover paint

i've just got another cam cover for my 3 door... its in really good condition but does have a few marks..... i wanna do a D I Y resto on it as it doesnt warrant a full one. who can tell me what heat resistant red paint to use(aerosole or brush on???) and whats the best way to clean up the metal face, its only got very fine pitting on .... cheers

Clean up wise either get it machined or use a block and grit paper!! when i painted mine with 2pack i used 240 grit on a medium block to take the paint back to metal then 320 grit i think to give it a brushed ally finish!!!

plasti kote from b and q mate heat resistant and gives a really good shinny finish ill agree with the 2 pac but its a lot of fucking about and u carnt really do it in your garage at home also dont go for normal rattle cans their not high temp plasti kote also do a primmer and a laquer i cleaned mine with a scotch bright pad on a wheel on my die grinder looks as good as machined

on my 2.3 gal, i got my mate to powder coat my rocker,
only cost me £15, then used plasti-kote paint on my spark plug cover.
looks good now it all done

well when i said 2k i didnt mean to use it as it doesnt last too well, my nice candy blue one has already cracked near the breather hole and the breather pipe from the kidney box has rubbed on it back to metal

I did mine at home thou so it can be done not reccomended but still lol

it looks like the metal face will clean with scotchbrite an metal polish.... does any red hamerite paint match the colour??? anyone know??? cheers

I used plastikote on our old saph mate. I sanded it all down & gave it a good clean with panel wipe then painted it....

got mine powder coated, the full job was £50 including stripping, preparing and coated. looked well.

you old bufty queen !!!!

i done my saph with car spray paint in a can and done the polished bit with some 800 grit paper then finished it with a brillo pad top job lol
