how can i turn off the Traction control on a escort gti 1998 any help please thank you

There's a light on the dash because the ABS system is has a fault!

traction control lights come on when the system is off.

it looks like a car tyre with dirt being spun off it the nomal signs for Traction control it go's off with the abs light

Thats right. When you turn mine off, the bloody thing has 3 orange lights come on, and ESP OFF in big letters across the dash, overkill i think!

i know the light is for diagnostics and go's out after it tests but that not the point i want to turn of the Traction control like you can on a mondeo but the escort dont have a switch to turn it off

take my word for it some escorts including gti and some Ghia have Traction control it's rare but thay do

Not being funny but would the car have enough power to need a TC system ?
Look in fusebox, see if there is a seperate fuse for this system, that doesn't also feed anything else, at least then you know you merely need to interupt this circuit, by cutting and splicing in a switch.

no there aint no fuse for it thats the first thing i thought off i wish it was that simple i think the mondeo switch connect's to the abs control .so i think i will have to go through that root

Im no expert, but id put money on the GTI not having it, ive never heard of any MK6 escort having TC, even the RS2000, and i had a GTI for while, and needless to say, it didnt have traction control.

try wheel spinning it if the power dies it has traction if not you dont need to turn it off.

try google type escort gti Traction control see how many you can see for sale with it

put a switch in line with the abs fuse and tell me where you put the switch.

Once you get back to me i'll tell you how to turn it off.

do it, it actually comes up with a lot, infact about 90% of them for sale seem to have it

ive never heard of it before, and im stil not sure about it

EDIT: ive just put in escort gti for sale and on the first few pages none have them wrote about them

some escort mk6s did have tc, quite a primitave 1 which works off gearbox, quite like the one on mk5 fiesta zetec s
