2004 Ford Focus ST 170 in Silver. (3 dr)

Default 2004 Ford Focus ST 170 in Silver. (3 dr)

Hi,

I am going to view the above car at the weekend. Car has 80,000 miles and comes with a full ford service history. Im told it is a standard st 170 car. What should i look out for on these cars?

It was brought in from England and imported into the republic of ireland 2 years ago. The Manchester area, company known as DACE motors.

Do these suffer from rust?
What colours came in this model?
Did these cars come with any additions extras?
Did these come in 3dr and 5dr?
What is the chassis number on this car?

The only problem with this car is as follows:
Has an inlet manifold runner control issue. Does this affect the performance of the car? Is this a common problem? How do i fix this problem?

What colours came in this model? Silver, Black, Blue, Grey
Did these cars come with any additions extras? Climate pack gives you Climate control/xenon lights/heated mirrors/heated washer jets, Comfort pack gives you leather recaros and upgraded sound system
Did these come in 3dr and 5dr? Yes, estate too.
What is the chassis number on this car? Dont know

The only problem with this car is as follows:
Has an inlet manifold runner control issue. Does this affect the performance of the car? Is this a common problem? How do i fix this problem?
Very common, needs a new runner control box (silver box mounted to bulkhead behind inlet manifold), and possibly the actuating clip that attaches to the side of the inlet manifold, near the throttle body.

A fault with the IMRC will indeed cause a big drop in performance, you will have no low down power what so ever until it is fixed, the box is about £180 for the part and an arse to fit, hopefully the clip will have just broken off the manifold runner and you can get a new clip
