How many of you guys have wired up your PC to your LCD or plasma TV? Either VGA to VGA or HDMI to VGA or HDMI to DVI? I bought a HDMI to DVI cable yesterday waiting for it to arrive but just thinking ahead now. My PC I custom built 2 years ago was a hot spec then and still cuts it now, been upgrading bits and pieces when I have some money to play with but one thing I haven't touched since I first built it is the graphics card. It's a BFG Nvidia 7600GT. Back then was one of the best you could get bar going for Nvidia's 9000 series, GTS or GTX cards. Brief spec for those in the know:

* PCIe native
* 560MHz core frequency
* 128-bit memory interface
* 20.2GB/sec. memory bandwidth
* 7B pixels/sec. fill rate
* 730M vertices/sec.
* 12 pixels per cycle
* Built in dual-link DVI support for 2560x1600 resolution
* 256MB GDDR3
* Something like ~1400MHz memory clock speed

Now whilst it can handle a large enough resolution, when playing games (Far Cry, Unreal Tournament etc etc) think it is going to be out of its depth a bit. For my 19" PC monitor it is fine doesn't struggle at all but even on a game like FEAR, can't play with everything maxed out because frame rate is really poor. So those who like playing games on a big plasma or LCD (mines a 42" LG plasma) what graphics card are you running and what would you recommend?

Put my pc on me plasma for a while, had screen burn like a right fucker though so took it off! LCD should be fine though!

 

i have the 4870 1024mb overclocked, can pretty much play anything in any res as well, the new 5800series are the best about atm imo but are pretty pricey

 

i just plug it in using a hdmi cable lol

 

That's what I'm doing but the question I'm trying to answer is how comfortable is my graphics card going to be running on a 42" plasma. It will be running through HDMI as stated above. Perhaps this question was better suited to avforums or OcUK forums...

 

ive got the same card tryed to run hl2 on it on my 32" lcd sony but it was struggling. it was fine for 780 films and basic stuff but it didnt like the gams at all


tbh i wouldent buy a gfx card atm and ATI own the market as Nvidia pulled out the market october time last year because they were doing shite and ATI were walking all over them but theres new Nvidia 450/460 series (i think thats what there called) coming out in a few months time. but if your looking at high end grx cards ATI will have your arm, leg and half your cossie for one of there cards but theres some low/mid Nvidia cards there but there not much good so your better off saving cash for now till the new Nvidia GFX cards bring the price down

 

its not the size of the TV that matters its the resolution a 1080p TV will have a res of 1920x1080, your graphics card supports 2560 x 1600
