if there is a market for it, its gotta be worth it. it's not convenient for everyone to use a space saver, and with most people doing a 9-5 job there isn't much time in the day to get it replaced.

what type of repairs? just punctures and the like?

How much would buisness insurance cost for that. Although tyre fitting is quite simple as a job, surely there must be quite a rather large liability attatched on it if you was to fit something wrong which could lead to serious injury

If you have sat and worked EVERYTHING out, and it shows that there is profit to be made, its gotta be worth a go.

I imagine it would probably cost a fair amount to start up as you'd need a fair few tyres on the shelf ect? Unless of course you can get them from Kwik-Shit and make the profit from the fitting etc.

kwikfit had all the hire stuff and 3 other companys did out side fitting
after 12 at night was good money but I had 300 tyres in sttock

ANY BUISNESS HOWEVER BIG OR SMALL WILL ALWAYS DO WELL IF YOU OFFER A GOOD SERVICE AT A GOOD PRICE AND YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO GET YOURSELF NOTICED/HEARD OFF THERE IS ALWAY GOING TO BE MORE THAN ONE PERSON DOING THE SAME THING AS EVERYONE WANTS TO MAKE MONEY.I USED TO BE A MOBILE MECHANIC/TYRE FITTER FOR MYSELF AND IT WAS GREAT I PICKED MY OWN HOURS AND EARNED AS MUCH AS I WANTED TO DEPENDING ON WORK LOAD.THE KEY FOR ME WAS GETTING MYSELF KNOWN FOR WHAT I DID AND HOW WELL I DID IT I STARTED WITH THE CONCEPT OF IF I CAN EARN ENOUGH TO PAY MY BILLS AND KEEP THE BUISNESS GOING FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS SO I COULD GET SOME RETURN BUISNESS I WOULD THEN START TAKING A WAGE BUT AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS I WAS EARNING MORE THAN WHEN I WAS EMPLOYED.THERES ALWAYS AN OUTLAY WHEN STARTING IE VAN TOOLS EQUIPMENT ADVERTISING ETC.AND YOU WILL NEED SOMETHING TO KEEP YOU GOING FOR A SET AMOUNT OF MONTHS I WORKED ON 6 MONTHS AND YOU JUST GO FOR IT REALLY.I NEVER KEPT ANY STOCK AS I JUST WENT TO A FEW TYRE DEALERS WHO CARRY A LARGE STOCK AND JUST OPENED CASH ACCOUNTS AND PAID AS I WENT AND I NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH STOCK I COULD ALWAYS GET WHAT I WANTED SAME DAY OR WORST CASE IN THE MORNING,AS TYRE GARAGES HOLD QUITE ALOT OF STOCK BUT ALSO REICEVE AT LEAST X2 DELIVERYS A DAY.THERES GOOD AND BAD INEVERYTHING NOT JUST BUISNESS MATE AND NOT EVERYONE WILL DO WELL THATS LIFE JUST BE OPENED MINDED PREPARED TO GRAFT BE A BIT CAUTIOUS AND GO FOR IT OR LIKE ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVE SAID YOU WILL REGRET NOT TRYING (GOOD LUCK IF YOU DO IT THOUGH )

keeping stock is quite a big overhead, could you not just use a company like stapletons or bits and collect the tyres as and when needed (they are both wholesalers)

Sounds like a good idea mate but make sure that you research whether there is a market for this sort of thing in your area. I would try to plan my work in advance by working to appointments so that you can get the tyres as they are needed rather than having to hold large stocks.
Another thought has just occurred to me, could you go into partnership with your existing company where you work for yourself but agree to buy your tyres from them. That way they are getting a slice of the mobile tyre sales market as well as their regular work. You never know they may even help you with the setting up costs.

Yeah, was going to say what a couple of others have said. If you can get in with a fleet company and become an authorised fitter you'd do ok.

somebody must be fitting used tyres, they seem to sell well on ebay, but you try and get them fitted, ive only found 1 place local that will fit them, in a recession i would have thought any money was better than none, just goes to show that they dont need the beer money, ie cash in hand
