Default Finding Suppliers

I am looking at opening a website with the goal of providing quality branded car parts at highly affordable prices.

However what I was wondering is if there are any of the usuall wholesalers which would cover the basics (Sensors, spark plugs, oil filters etc), or if anyone knows of any trade shows in either manchester or birmingham where I can make contacts in this arena?

firstly you are entering a highly competitive market, is it solely going to be website based?

you really need to speak to the likes of mahle, NGK, Comma etc and find there uk distributor. You will probably find that the manufacturers only sell to authorised distributors, so you will have to contact them.

people like camberley auto factors for example sell millions and millions of pounds worth every year, so i think you will find it hard to compete - especially as if it is going to be website based, people who will want to buy, filter, plugs, oil, pads, discs will want it on the same day and not have to wait. - i know i do.

i presume you are going to do some sort of SEO on keywords to generate traffic to your website? do you intend to offer inventory or are you going to dropship?

We intend to offer orders from inventory, I had considered dropshipping however the last thing I want is my business name being wrecked because of a third party supplier taking my money and not shipping the goods to the customer.

I understand this is a competitive market, and I will be a miniscule fish in a massive marketplace. However our strengths are based around the ability I have to find keywords which convert and achieve the rankings. For obvious reasons I will not disclose the precise keywords I have identified.

I am not going out there to try and take over the world, however a nice little addition to my income from my abilities and spreading the risk a bit never hurt anyone in a recession.
