well i knew me old man played away yrs ago n i had a half brother but never realy wanted to know who he was, well he wanted to meet up yrs ago but i said no, which looking back its not his fault
any way long story short he added me on face book and we have sent a few pm;s and txt's have become more regular ..still not had the guts to phone him, hes buzzing with the thought of meeting me (hes 38) ...cant see why im just me
well meeting him soon but what do i say???? how do i start speeking to him??? where do i start????

Had a similar situation when I was 22 met my father for the first time I was propper bricking it before hand wondering what to say what was going to happen etc but wasnt too bad when it came down to it tbh the meeting went ok, take somebody with you for support I took a couple of mates with me who just sat in a different part of the pub, just remember whatever feelings you are having he will be feeling exactly the same bud

i also had a simmilar situation when i was around 19 & my half sister was 36, she spokeme & my brother like she knew us for years but my dad doesnt realy take them on as he's old skool but there alright tho, dont realy speek nowadays as she lives in hull & im in aberdeen

Im in this situation too and am very interested to know where to start because as you say its a bit awkward

 

ive got a half brother and 2 half sisters, so far ive only met my half brother, hes 5 years younger than me, u already are off to a good start as ur are friends on facebook so u know what he likes/is in to

arrange to meet in a pub for a few drinks, it will be awkward at first but after a drink or 2 you will be chatting about ur interests and u can tell him things about your dad that he may have questions about

ive still got to trace 1 of my half sisters who is 1 year younger than me, unfortunatly her mums boyfriend after my dad adopted her so her name changed which is making it harder

my other half sister im in contact with on facebook she is 16 (im 33) and lives in america with her mum and my dad, we chat all the time and she will becoming over in 2 years time to meet all the family

your half brother is prob curious to know/meet the rest of his family esp if he is a only child like my sis who only found out after chatting to me that she is aunite at 16 years old to 8 neices and nephews who some of are older than her and she has a great neice and a great nephew

your half brother prob just wants to know his family roots and find out where hes from

 

You having nothing to lose by meeting up but alot to gain if you both get on. Like everyone else has said, chat about things you like to break the ice and then the more you get to know each other the more comfortable you will become to chat on more sensitive subjects.

well bottled out of phoning him today but got a txt that he was at a pub near me having a roast dinner, so the wife got me by the short n curlys and said fooking get over there..and we went and fook am i happy that was over i have not been so nervious a yrs, but it was good and chatted about so many things but none in depth as if we had known each other for yrs. and we have a lot in common fook that was scary,wish the evening was longer but he had a longish drive home so we are having a sunday afternnoon/eve to get to know each other better and meet the rest of my clan

and what was weird him saying " you the big bro so its up to you " strange hearing that from a bloke and not my little sis

so alls well in the whilee camp again

 

If he's got a long drive home he's prob been drinking in the boozer round the corner hoping one day you'd make the move.

I met my old man for the first time in 20 odd years, I was crapping my self but when I walked in the door and saw how nervous he was aswell that all went away, so glad I did it now but wish I had done it much sooner,
Have now seen him 4/5 times and its like we have never lost contact, Got 2 more little brothers, my missus takes the piss with things like we were both sitting on sofa chatting and we were both sitting the same way holding drinks the same etc etc lol
