Lol @ the R32 for under 6k your looking 10k plus for one!!
I'd say clio 182 if they fall under the 6k bracket ir what about a Fietsa st if you want to keep it in the ford family? the clio will run rings around it in std form thought tbh

ok fair comment bout the r32 i should av looked at prices 1st
but there are plenty of 4 motions an gti's in that price range an imo golfs are just generally better than civic/fiesta/clio, thay aint so boyish and hold their value well, more so than i thought obv
reliable drive train? comin from an rst owner lol an yh my birds old p reg polo was better built than her mums brand new fusion
I'm in germany... surrounded by shitty german cars that cost too much and break down all the time. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about.
Look at the guy with his T5 van in the other thread. He could only dream of RST reliability.
PS: RSTs are only unreliable if idiots have messed with them.

Ive had the clio 172 (first one they did) and it was great, typical french build quality but for thrashing around it was brill. I had it decat'd with custom induction kit and group n ecu. Was so responsive and pulled all the way through. My mate had a type r which looked so much better from an interior and exterior point of view but for driving the only advantage it had was the handling as the clio was a tad light in the rear. Powerwise the type r seemed a bit of a let down, it was gutless until you reached the higher rpm then it started to shift but you only had about 2k of powerband, but this meant you were up and down the box all the time where as the clio would just pull out of the bends., But my mates type was in standard trim though.
I paid 3500 for mine with 28k on the clock back in 2007 on an x plate. It was a cat d with boot damage hence the cheap price. Cracking car
Hope this helps mate

Regarding the RST: I want to see how reliable a Golf 5 GTI would be after 20 years, 4 - 20 previous owners and double the boost pressure it came with when it left the factory...
Type R mate, I'd lean towards an Integra as well but the civic doesnt stick out like a sore thumb like the teg does if thats what your into.
Someone mentioned the GTI 6 above, had one and it was a bloody hoot, fave car I've owned next to my S1!

Type R for that money all day long.
Bullet proof cars, practical, look good - you do have to ring their neck to get the power though and they are low on extra's.
Look for a mint 2002 example, or 70-80k 2003 model on your 6k buget.
Dont be tempted to buy newer models for 6k, if they are around, as there are LOADS of shonky ones on the market and these will be dogs most likely as they are holding money very well - go for mint with around 50k on the clock and full history and enjoy trouble free thrashing.
