has anyone got / had / used one of these

what are they like

i know they are not gonna be same league as the snap on stuff

just got back from costco and they have a 10 drawer roll cab with wooden top for under 300 quid

couldnt really play with it as was on a shelf so out of reach

 

Ive got the small top box and Im really pleased with it, seems well built and stiff, roller drawers and a nice finish.

 

if its anything like the BIG black tool box Chingford costco do its lovely quality, mate had someone part ex one at work to snap on man for more than he paid for it lol

 

Good for the money, get what you pay for though. smap om stuff 20 years down the line will still work as new. this stuff will wear and go tatty ALOT quicker

im only a very occasional weekend mechanic so wont be abused too much

just as long as its not like the wafer thin halfords stuff (as thats what i was looking at)

 

halfords do a better range as well i got there black setup its the industrial series they are made by the same makers as the snapon ones and they also use the roller bearing same as snap on i paid near on 700 for mine as i have had it 12-18 months nows

so you could get a full box setup for the same price i was shock at how sturdy it felt when i was looking for one

 

The Snap on brand do not manafactuer toolboxes for the likes of halfords etc.... who ever told you that hasn't a clue what there on about mate.

 

I second that. Im getting fed up with people saying halfords stuff is made by/is as good as snap on stuff. Ive had halfords stuff and it broke with ease, i wouldn't buy it again. You get what you pay for, end of

 

waifer thin?! ive had the halfords pro stuff for years now and hardly broken any thing, and its lifetime guarentee so who cares if it breaks or not?! the cabs as said are good quality too as ive got the black industrial roller cab too!!

End of the day snap on may be more durable but is it worth spending a shit load more on something just cos its snap on?! Not for me personally no!!

Plus snap on stuff does break too.........

 

make sure its got roller bearings on the draws
snap on,brittool etc.. dont make tool boxes
they are made under licence
my britool box was very poor quality

 

searh on youtube for snap on vids of how the toolboxes are made and you'll soon appreciate them above any other inferiour stuff.

theres an arse for every seat, if you like halfords fair play. Snap on come round every week and basically lend you there money to buy tools with then you pay it back each week with 0 interest at all. their tools arent jsut chromed there nickel chromed, cold broached.

if you look into it mate the difference is night and day

 

 

That's really quite touching - someone who still believes in the "something-for-nothing" fairy!

If Snap-On charged the correct price for their tools and then added an appropriate interest rate for the weekly collection of payments, they would be right up there with Provident or Shopacheck! It is a hideously expensive business model.

Instead, they inflate the price of the tools to cover their actual interest funding cost + bad debts for the scallys who can't/won't pay and tell you there is interest free credit available. Oh, and they also add enough for warranty claims.

I have no doubt at all that they make great tools. Many of my friends swear by them and will use nothing else, but don't be taken in by the marketing speak.

 

My tools are largly signet with a few halfords pro bits and a few snap on bits. Snap on stuff is lovely, but I don't really think its worth the extra, I am pretty hard on my tools and have only broken a couple of the halfords bits, and killed the mechs in a couple of ratchets.

 

well i too like snap - on unfortunatelly they won't call at your home address

and like snap-on boxes even if they don't make them as i was told then it still using the same quality materials as i compared this box with alot of boxes when i was looking for a new box and it was the only one that came close and it was a very close box and as it was new for the same price as i could get a secondhand 10 year old snap-on box i didn't really lose thousands on it and don't need to take 5-6 years paying it off

like said i do like snap on for tools and boxes but they only do business address NOT residential address

 

i dont get taken in mate i work for them.

and if you think they add the price of warranty claims onto the tools, go and price up some screwdriver blades or ratchet repair kits. and have a guy come to your door to sort everything for you then rethink the prics of the tools out mate.

Your not getting something for nothing, nothing in life is free. but you do get a second to none service, thats why people have the confidence and th sense to buy THE best on the market.

i bought them for years when i was on the spanners, 7 infact and over them 7 years i spent near on 7k. but i never once had an issue with any snap on tool whether it be ir, electric or hand. even a 3/8 snap on ratchet i got off my dad, 23 years on its sweet as a nut. had a few repaire kits in but still sound as.

the amount of bergen,sealey etc..... air tools or scrrewdrivers etc.... i threw away was unreal buy cheap buy twice.

you need to be using the stuff everyday to appreciate it!! any decent tech will say exactly the same i've found.

 

you physically couldent fit residential calls into a round, theres barely enough hours in the day for the round your given, really is hectic.

best thing to do is meet your local snap on guyt at a local business mate get a business card and catalogue
