Dutch saff: 100% longterm rebuild.. (final update 15.04.06)
DONE ABOUT 200 MILES NOW, FINALLY (for latest pics see end of last page)
(sorry for the number of pics)
Hi all,
The last 4 year's I owned my cos, and I thought, why not make one hell of a topic with some history and freshening up/rebuild pics's.
Have fun.
Bought this 2wd cos in september 2000, it looked like this and it had about 150bhp, not much huh? (mileage: 72.500miles)

Got myself some EBC brakes with new discs, painted them blue:

After spending too much money on making the engine produce about 200hp, and I thought it was time for a new paintjob, here it is.
At the paintshop:

Painted and well, ready to mount it all together:

Final result:

At the moment the engine bay looked like this, ram-air filter and a dumpvalve were the only mods ad the time:

Got boared with the standard wheels, so around september 2003 I got myself Lenso S7's with some nice P-zero Nero rubber (215/40):

This is what the car looked like with the Lenso's, next to me 2 dutch friends, one happy cossie-family

After the outside had quite some improvement, I started under the hood. Got a new standard (t03b) turbo, since the old one died, a stage 1 chip and a pallet of samco's, this was the result:

At the moment the interior was quite clean but not changed, only some audio

After I Drove around quite some time I doubted if the suspension was capable enough, so after saving some money I replaced the suspension and exhaust with: koni adjustables, mongoose exhaust (3inch tale), all bushes Polyurethane (Powerflex), this was the result:

Somewhere around may 2004 I planned my sommerholiday, which would mean visiting Monaco, yep the harbour and the tunnel
After doing a general check, my radiator seemed pregnant -too bad-, so bought myself a new one:

After drinking 1 beer less then expected, in Monaco, I saved enough money to get myself 4 new inner-wheelarches (or how they're called in english
), this was the result (gladly no rust or anything underneath:

In augustus last year I visited the Ford Fair for the first time, no comment needed. Since I didn't wanna return empty-handed, I got myself a nice bailey headertank:

From that moment things went wrong, this what the car overall looked like in augustus 2004 (mileage, about 112.500):

At the moment I had around 270bhp and 350Nm torque (done 2 performance tests, this is the average of the results)
Somewhere in september I blew the headgasket? Not that bad, you'd think. After the head came off they're were little pits/holes eaten in my cillinderhead (probably from driving around too long, not knowing the headgasket was cracked). It looked like this:
(it was also below the minimum thickt so it needed replacement)

I could have let the holes be welded, flatten the head, place a new headgasket and be finished. But I didn't, since the pistons were als worn out. And since I'm no lawyer or something, the engine was completely unmounted and the cos wen't inside for a long wintersleep )-;

From now on it's sort of a rebuild, at least the engine would be rebuilt.
The windscreen needed replacement since it had a burst (of about 20cm):

Started cleaning/polishing and blasting some parts:

The plan is to get an engine which can produce 375+ (without cracking), with the following specs/parts:
- New 200 block, JE pistons low (7.8) comp, ARP main studs/con rod bolts, 4x4 cilinderhead), greys, T34/35 or 38 turbo, RS500 intercooler and a good chip
Since this is quite a wild plan (for Dutch terms that is
) it'll take quite a llong time to reach this, I'll keep this topic alive with news and progression.
First things I bought last month are a new 200 block, 139mm thick complete 4x4 (partially rebuild) cilinderhead, new waterpump and a pack of stainless steel rockercover bolts:

Next thing will be the JE pistons, probably end of next month..
To be continued

M8 your car looks top after all the work you have done
Pity the engine has given up but at least your rebuilding it with the best and not just bodging it up.
Keep up the good work

Thanks for all the reactions guys, gives a less the feeling that there's no end
Unfortunately I don't have a partnumber (yet), the JE pistons are made with the specifications you say you want them (comp. ratio, size etc.), so I'm also afraid they don't have a static partnumber. When I get one, I'll let you know though.

More pics and parts coming soon..
With a bit of luck I should have all needed (engine) parts around september this year.

Hi Guys,
Just got some new parts today, so I thought, let's post some new pics about the last months.
Completely emptied the trunk and found some rust )-;

Also painted some of the pearlblasted parts, which are now ready to use:

.. also cleaned the intercooler

Here are the new parts I got from march till today, also polished my headertank and coilcover.

That's all for now... more to come

cozzie4d,
*Dutch mode ON*
ik ben echt wel heel benieuwd waarmee jij de radiator en radiator molen
zo proper gekregen hebt? Welk produkt heb jij gebruikt? Of gewoon met een
hogedrukreiniger afgespoten?
*Dutch mode OFF*
looks very good mate, keep us updated and good luck.
