Default Do i convert to RWD or go 35/65 AWD split ?

right a few of you may know i own a chavyboo Impreza and its gearbox has erm,, well left us pmsl,,,, now the question is do i convert it to RWD or get a DCCD with no electrics and have a rear bias split of AWD 35F/65R ?

this is just a fun toy i will be using for the ring/track and general arsing about in cars with

any ideas ?

DCCD costs more to do as ive gotta by a RA box,,,, im already rebuilding a box to my ratios but this seems a better idea perhaps to do but,,,, well im not sure tbh

just looking for ideas,, i know martin prefers 4x4 but,,,,, well im not sure as i drive like a girl anyway but what should i do

ive got a type r and its easy enough to get sideways with the 35/65 split. i couldnt decide between 4wd or rwd so went for the type r as an inbetween and im happy with it.

Why on earth would you want to convert it to RWD? Baring in mind you DON'T like driving cars sideways.

Also worth noting Hayden converted his Scooby BACK to 4WD after doing 3 rear diffs when it was RWD.

im just not sure if i would be better off going RWD and saving the cash im gonna have to spend to get a DCCD as its buying another gearbox just for the rear section as the ratios are WAY too short

at the min im gonna buy a rear diff, would have to buy a RA box for the centre part and then another UK box for the mix ratios as my box is very tall ratio anyway but has short diffs, i dont wanna fit my 5th gear to a RA box and have a change from 4th to 5th feel like im going 3rd to 5th

if i go RWD then all i need is a different rear diff and a UK box for the middle gears but would i then bin it on the bends ?

hayden abused the car like a cock hence he done the damage, i want either a LSD front with DCCD and ive already got a plated rear diff and just need the gears of another model to go to 3.9,,,,, rwd is the cheepest option as its piss easy to do, remove the plates and weld the centre diff together,, so its a cheep option and i deffo want RWD bias anyway,,, just not sure on RWD apart from the cost option

theres more to RWD than just hanging the arse out,,, theres less transmission losses too and so the taller gears may suit RWD more perhaps

I think if you went for the DCCD route you would have the best of both worlds I don't know how hard it is to get just a DCCD though.

the dccd is the tail end and drop down gear of the Type R/RA boxes so i would have to buy one of them ( great ) but i wouldnt bother with the electrics as i would have it full front slip all the time hence my thinking of RWD

Why not just carry on rebuilding the box you have....saves hassle when you blow the rear diff or more expensive box down the line and just left with shoulda woulda coulda's.

my box has lost 3rd gear and 4th gear,, basically that shaft might be fooked pmsl and so its being changed, im thinking of a UK spec for the 3.9 ratio on the front, plated front diff fit a dccd rear tail end so to have a 1:1 drop gear and source another 3.9 rear gears and fit to my rear plated diff,,,,,, OR i could get a uk box, weld the centre diff, get the 3.9 rear diff gears and have a box that will do 178mph at 7000rpm instead of 156mph at 7000rpm, being that it would not have 4 wheels to drive makes me think i might require less BHP to get a top speed,, and also save money on fuel too

downside is i might drive it into the armco at the ring pmsl
