I also bought a k reg 4x4 saph with no sunroof
so Grant the wife's uncle said why not build a group a rep saph???mmmmmm I thought, yes that could be good.So he orded the cage and a shap grp a escort cossie pedal box.I will strip the cossie out to bare shell over xmas for them to seam weld and prep after xmas

He looks afters all ford rally cars mk1 2,and cossie escorts, has had 1 or 2 spahs as well he said he could get some wrc/grp a bits brakes, shocks, engines parts ,diffs cheapish :-XSo I swopped the 2 for the prep work on the cossie shell well some of it
So i can't wait now
thought I'd do a stage by stage post here about my Sapphire. So I want a big power track car........one day :
but for a start I will do the shell and get it to handle and stop well.

Well it took 4 hours the strip the sound stuff off using a heat gun and scrapper. If you heat it up well it comes off like butter .Now I will use "glue and tar remover" to clean the bit left on... off
PICS

Me on the scrapper did find one problem,if you slip with the scrapper you get branded by the red hot heat gun :cussing:

Finished
ccasion14:

Next cleaning off the seam sealer and paint for the welding will have a go saturday if the wife will let me in the shed!!

Cheers all thanks for the kind word
Yea the no sunroof is good, the car was a police car still had all the wiring and a brace over the rear seats to stop people getting out the back though the boot???But the roof has no holes in it and the dash is as new, like to know witch police force used the car.
Any one know where I could get the two roof flaps/air vents like the GRP A saphhire had?rare as hell I bet.

Had three more hours in the workshop today cleaning off the tar pads shit messy job

And no it's not rust on the seam it's the tar shit staining the seam sealer
I also used a de-spot weld drill bit to remove the battrey tray and all the lugs/brackets and any thing else thats not going to be used.
