if its sideways you want, you need a limited slip diff or a welded one, changing the ratio wont make a great deal of difference.

the 24v is the way to go put one in my capri with 100 shot of nos free flow exhaust all i did with the engine was change the oil regular made 217 bhp standard 332 with the nos and anough tourqe to blow a set of new tyres in afternoon of fun. still going three years on.
if you get the doner car its all a straight swap

free upgrade with a good set of tools, i know this wont give a massive hike in power but try turning the turbo up by winding the actuator rod in by 360 degrees and turn up the boost fueling on the pump

No its not an easy conversion really, why not just drift the omega instead if you want a better engine?

You can tweak the pump mixture and up the boost a wee bit, have a look through a mondeo forum the Mk1s use the same engine so mods are very similar
A nice exhast will make a bit of differance, check out the sierra owners club forum, a member on ther has a tweaked turbo diesel saph
