Weirdly the 60K sounds dear to me, but both the 30Ks on their own sound perfectly reasonable, which makes no sense obviously.

Gotta be well and truely the wrong side of 100K, especially if you included the R&D most folk would need to do for something like that to get it as well setup as that car must be (judging by how it goes)

 

As i said earlier im going to miss both them at the same time hammering everything on track. it was awesome to watch esp when i saw them being built from scratch.

 

Both cars show what a good combination big bollocks and a big chequebook are, lol

Cant think of many other people in the ford scene who've been prepared to throw that much money just at a trackday toy or car for a relatively low level racing series, a great testament to the pair of them's richness/madness

Seems to be mainly jap cars that attrack that sort of spending normally!

 

Thats the issue really, if you added up all the parts your into a LOT of money and thats before you include any labour or r&d.

Its quite a fresh car although you are talking Escort wrc money at 60k iirc but then that wont come with a 708hp engine or go round a race track anywhere near as fast as those pair of cars do.

TBH though, an RS200 or WRC Escos for the same money would be a better investment long term I suspect, cant see the focus's holding their value longer term as they are ultimately just built by a bloke in a shed (thats not an insult to andy, in fact given how well they go its more of a compliment)
They just have no heritage, and thats what a car needs to hold its value once the novelty wears off.

But like you said, if someone wants a car to use, rather than as an investment, there isnt any other ford for the same money thats going to compete on track!

 

Indeed, for the differntial in value of 25K you wouldnt be able to make your escort competitive against charlies car, so it starts looking like good value from that point of view.

 

You could put that engine & box in a escort but it still would not be as good as these focus cossies.They handle far better

 

I didnt say steve was he has always loved these cars tho & im sure if he had the cash he would snap one up.

 

What are the regulations in the category your entering into Danny ?

Are sequential gearboxes allowed ? I remember there being some rules about using them in the Formula Saloons a few years back which is why ( I think) certain cars dropped out.

Fair point there though Chip, it is nearly double the money Zen sold his car for though which IS as quick round a track as Andys car, now that does make it look expensive but the Zen car didn't have a spec sheet anywhere like that focus does (bills wise) !

I stand corrected, Zen car was up for 45k, not 35k that I had in my head, either way cheap in comparison and I doubt it sold for that.

 

If the shell and structure of it is the same as andy's car, then its going to be very limited on what it can enter, andy isnt even allowed into BRDC stuff for example.

Ultimate ford trackday toy without a doubt but not good for much in terms of actual circuit racing outside of the scottish saloon car championship it would seem.

Wonder if they would be eligable for the castle coombe saloon car championship that simon norris does in his white evo? If so I reckon they would do well at that
