hi there i was wandering what is the best manifold option for my 1.8 zetec focus i dont want a de cat but can i get a performance amnifold and just use the oringinal cat or would that be too restrictive??would a blacktop 2.0 focus manifold work and i could just bolt on the cat i have??

 

2.0L manifold is same as the 1.8

get a st170 manifold and cat and flexi best manifold and bolt on mod u can do ull need the st dipstick and think with some cars the powersteerin pipe as well

I wouldn't have thought replacing it with a Ford mani would really be that beneficial for the £££. The standard RS mani and cat are horribly restrictive!

Id say the performance 4-2-1's would only really be worth it...

 

st170 manifold mate

lots of people uprate to these as they are tubular and not cast like the other ones are

 

st170 manifold is a 4-2-1 mate and lets him have a cat with out custome weldin one in to the system and i have heard with the st170 manifold and cat u gain 10bhp+

I have an st170 manifold on my focus but no cat or silencers etc i had it altered so it woud bolt straight on to a normal exhaust pip fitting not the 3bolt thing it comes with.. and also got a custom power steering pipe.

hi there i thinki i will get a st170 manifold but i was wandering is the lambda sensor the same as the one on a ford focus 1.8 zetec or if it comes with it will the other end fit in ok??also will i need a powersteering pipe and st dipstck as said above??

Yes the lambda will fit but if you get decat there is another sensor needed for that. neither the 1.8 2.0 has so you will need a piece making to fit. Also u will defo need dipstick and pipe

 

hi there thanks for the reply what powersteering pipe do i need ???also would i need the st170 dipstick pipe as well??the lambda thing seems pretty confusing to me what are the chances of it having decay is this decay on the sensor bit itself??

Sorry spellin was pooh read last post again. If you get a little pipe made to replace the cat you only need ur lambda. U need both dipstick and powersteering pipe from st170. I had a hydraulic pipe made.

I swapped my manifold for the st170 one on my 1.8. I have a guide somewhere if any1 wants it.

On mine all i had do woz move one of the lamba sensors on the cat as it was close to driveshafts (or woz close to somethin else). I then needed extend the wires on my existing lamba sensor.

I also bought the st170 dipstick tube (£10 from ford, you can bend ur existing one but it aint worth it. I also painted the tube in high temp paint as well) and used my existing dipstick. I didnt bother with st170 PS pipe or aftermarket one, i just rotated the bit of pipe from side of manifold round to front of engine bay and iv ad no problems (touch wood lol).

Iv noticed an improvement in accelaration and exhaust tone (seems more raspy now)

Basically parts from st170 you need are:
Manifold
Cat (or decat) and flexi pipe
Gaskets
Oil dipstick tube
PS Pipe (if you want it - costs bout £80/£90 from ford)
If using cat on a 1.8, you need a bolt for blankin off lamba sensor and then the bit where lamba sensors goes from another cat to fit on ur st170 one (sorry couldnt think of its name lol)

i just got the dipstick tube and used my own dipper. i had a piece of pipe made up to replace the cat so it is just a straight 2.5" pipe with lambda hole in it.(for your sensor) i didnt need to change flexi it bolted straight up to my ss exhaust.. very very raspy.. but with that and and a k&n panel and bluefin with the boot fully stripped out my speedo showed 137. on my 2.0l When i took it out for a drive.

 

yeah so i am gona get the manifold gaskets flexipipe and cat for a st170 so all i need is st170 dipstick tube ,possibly st170 powersteeringpipe and extend my 1.8 lambda sensor??is this right?also is there a video of a st170 mani on a focus 1.8 as i dont want to do this modification and find out it sounds very raspy and doesnt sound nice

yea m8, IMO i wudnt bother with PS pipe from st170 as its jus waste of £90!!

There is this one and the the other two are the ones where you can jus see exhaust. The one of my car is b4 manifold. I defo isnt to loud and is a lot better for long distances. Its jus wen u put ur foot down it sound sweeter

this is all you need, i got the set up on mine, sounds better as said, performance gains aint out of this world but i found it was better acceleration towards top end, i just cable tied my powersteering pipe outta way after bending it as much as i could from manifold, no probs ere!

Wen i get round to it wil take a pic of where mine is. Jus to add i noticed the pic up is better when puttin ur foot down at low revs as well
