the unit is locked and doesn't come with the original receipt

it came with a car that was bought at auction and sold on

Was the program taken from the ECU and put back on handset before being sold on?

i honestly dont know , i doubt it as he only had the ST a day before it was sold and he found it under the seat when he gave it a quick valet

+1 These are really worth fuck all 2nd hand as Superchips charge a fortune to reset it(£170) but obviously there are cheaper ways but the program has to be on the handset for this.

it may well be but we just don't know

I'm guessing there isn't a way of finding out just by having the unit ?

No mate the only way you will know is when Superchips plug it in at their end, there is no other way of knowing without the car it was initially used on. A bit of a gamble to take sending it for a reset when you could be faced with a £170 bill?
